Spring Cleaning Now Involves My Skincare
Written by Kara M.
Enter my living room on any given Sunday and you’ll likely find me assembling some new contraption that promises to help me organize my apartment. Re-organizing is a necessary (and daunting) part of my annual Spring-cleaning ritual. New shelves, never-ending nesting baskets, collapsible bins - you name the organizational tool, I probably have it.
Despite these tools, my home still feels unorganized. Why is this? I’ll tell you: I am a walking juxtaposition: a maximalist that yearns for order in my home (also known as a millennial Virgo.)
“I blink and somehow, I’ve acquired 10 new books, a crate of vinyl records, and a growing stack of magazines. I tell myself that I’m allowed to hang onto some of these living room treasures if I can keep them neatly stored.”
As for my bathroom? That’s another story.
Behind the bathroom mirror there is a cabinet--or rather, a chasm. Open this and you’ll discover my skincare arsenal. Serums galore, cleansers for days and multitudes of moisturizers. Why hoard all this clutter? Because I’m stubborn. If I keep repeating “someday, I will use this very weird goo!”, maybe it will actually happen? This is a lie I tell myself.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I have some truly remarkable skincare products, but having an excess of products of varying quality just makes me feel overwhelmed.
Sadly, this overabundance inevitably causes my vitamin C and hyaluronic acid serums to drift over to the far corners of the cabinet. When I skip these steps, I can see the clarity of my skin begins to suffer. Struggling skin is the price I pay for my “more-is-more” approach.
“Time passes and soon the jars of goo begin to collect dust like participation trophies. Yes, the goo is not a real prize; it merely represents that I walked into a CVS a few months ago."
By now, I’ve experimented with enough skincare ingredients to know what works for me. So why haven’t I found something that incorporates the best ingredients into a single product? And why are so many promising products loaded with unnecessary additives? I crave simplicity and I finally found it.
Enter: Kapelle’s Dewly Noted.
Achieving More with Less
As a teen I had extremely oily skin. Now, in my mid-thirties, my skin falls more in the “combination” oily/dry category. Dealing with that excess oil during those formative years made me weary of most moisturizers. Some made me too greasy, and others didn’t do anything to combat my occasional dryness.
When I first tried Kapelle’s Dewly Noted I immediately noticed that it was simultaneously light and hydrating. (A rarity!) Dewly Noted has been amazing at restoring balance in my skin. For me, the winning combo in Dewly Noted’s formula comes from the way it pairs nourishing, hydrating ingredients with a gentle Vitamin C called Ascorbyl Glucoside. This means I can moisturize and brighten at the same time, which I love—love—love!
“I love the way that Dewly Noted gently absorbs into my skin, instead of some of my drugstore products that just sat on my skin or clogged my pores.”
I don’t have especially sensitive skin, but if I slip up on my skincare, my face quickly becomes red and irritated. Our skin barrier needs regular support. I was excited when I learned that Dewly Noted was formulated with skin barrier health in mind.
The essential lipids and hydrating elements like Jojoba and Squalane work to condition and calm. The Licorice Root Extract, Allantoin and many lipids promote healing and repair. Without all the unnecessary parabens, sulfates and fragrance, Dewly Noted can cut right to the chase: it supports, moisturizes and soothes my skin.
Focus on What Matters
As I get older, I try to be more mindful of how I spend my time and energy. I am learning that I don’t need to cling to a collection of skincare. Instead, I need to commit to a product that offers quality ingredients and is easy to use. Dewly Noted is formulated with higher concentrations of simple, clean ingredients so I get more of what works. The product feels weightless and I only need a small amount to achieve noticeably dewy, glowing skin. Bonus fact: Because Dewly Noted has an airless delivery, it’s easy to toss it into my purse on days when I feel like I need extra support.
When I introduced Dewly Noted into my routine, it felt like I was returning to a state of simplicity. It’s as if my favorite serums and moisturizers are collaborating. Whether I’m having a nine-step skincare kind of night or an oh-no-I-am-so-late-for-work kind of morning, I always use Kapelle’s Dewly Noted. It’s clean and simple to use—and don’t we all deserve some good, clean simplicity? I say, YES.
“My skincare clutter takes up nearly as much mental space as it does physical space.”
As I approach this year’s annual Spring cleaning, maybe I’ll pause from assembling my organizational gadgets. I can take time to read my books or play my records and enjoy this season of renewal and revitalization. My new collapsing bins (that seem to be collapsing in all the wrong ways!) can wait.
